La Xarxa de Fiber Optic Pontils és un projecte impulsat per l'Pontils Town Councilwith the collaboration ofGuifi·net Foundation,l'operadora Punt d'Accési la pròpia ciutadania.

L'objectiu d'aquesta xarxa de telecomunicacions mancomunada és proporcionar accés a Internet de quality, more sustainable, d'alta speed i amb local services a Pontils. D'aquesta manera, tots els veïns i veïnes del municipi que ho desitgin podran gaudir dels Internet services i també de telephony a través de l'operadora Punt d'Accés.

A diferència dels models convencionals, en què la propietat de la xarxa està en mans d'un sol operador que la desplega i l'explota alhora, el Guifi·net collective network model és una infraestructura que s'utilitza com a good thing: it belongs to all those actors that have invested and use it.
